Hi
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY STARTS NOW!!!!

1. Catchy My Breath- Kelly Clarkson
NO SURPRISE HERE! Kelly is always my #1 girl and this song that was featured on her Greatest Hits Chapter 1 album is a PERFECT little package of how the first 10 years of her career have gone. She sounds flawless as ever and the video shows us how incredible she LOOKS as well.

2. Let’s Have A Kiki- Scissor Sisters
THIS IS POSSIBLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS OF ALL TIME! Seriously, I absolutely cannot get enough of this song still. I heard it, then it hibernated on me for awhile, but then came back full force in the fall and is on so many of my playlists and just defines me because so much of my life is actually a kiki and I cannot foresee myself stopping this foray anytime in 2013.

3.Wide Awake- Katy Perry
You KNOW I’ve listened to this a million times pretending it was MY heart being shattered by Russell Brand. This song is one of Katy’s absolute best, and in a summer full of songs about dancing and partying and dying young, Katy broke our hearts every time this one came on the radio.

4. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together- Taylor Swift
This really was a year for my ladies. This is a COMPLETELY new sound for Taylor that I absolutely adored and wow just wow the first time I heard it I almost cried and I’ve listened to it a million times and still get so worked up and feel so empowered!

5. Live While We’re Young- One Direction
DUH. MY FAVORITE FIVE BOYS HAVE DONE IT AGAIN! The lead single off their sophomore effort got me excited for new tunes by the boys and hoping they would come sneak ME out in the middle of the night! They sound amazing, the video is amazing, and I have to hear them sing it live in 2013!

6. Call Me Maybe- Carly Rae Jepsen
Everyone may be tired of this song but I’ll never be over it. Yes it got overplayed in the summer but before that it was the little viral song that could. I heard it first around Spring Break time (I remember putting it on repeat as I cleaned my apartment before my trip!) and it was so damn catchy I could not stop listening! Carly Rae later proved she is more than just this song, and I hope she is not considered a simple one hit wonder.

7. Dance Again- Jennifer Lopez
I danced to this song ALL summer long, Hell, I’m STILL dancing to it! J-Lo was like “sorry Mark Anthony we’re gonna get divorced and I’m STILL gonna make great music and fall in love again and look SO HOT WHILE I DO IT!” That’s basically how I feel about this track. Plus it has my boy Pitbull on it, who can pump up a track like no other these days. I just love the driving beat and the hot hot hot bridge into the chorus.

8. I Found You- The Wanted
My SECOND favorite boyband released this absolutely seductive track this past summer, yet it never hit its groove to the extent that Glad You Came did. However, I am obsessed with the throwback sound, the falsetto, the grit in whoever’s voice when it goes “PEOPLLLLLLLEEEEEEEE”. Whooooo it just really gets me hot and bothered, if I’m being honest.

9. Home- Phillip Phillips
I am SO HAPPY Phillip won American Idol this past season, and even happier he has found so much success with this song. A true artist, Phillip took a song that wasn’t even written by himself and made it his own, giving everyone so many feelings during the Olympics, as it was heavily featured in the 2012 games. With 2 million plus units sold, I am hoping this bodes well for the future of this ADORABLE soft rocker.

10. Die Young- Ke$ha
I have been waiting AGES for Ke$ha to put out new music. While there is some (unfounded) criticism of this song lately because of events, I am still jamming to it as if there is no tomorrow. It shows growth and evolution in Ke$ha, while keeping that youthful party spirit. On all my party playlists and a GREAT first single from her HOT new album Warrior.

Honorable Mention: Scream & Shout- Will.I.Am feat. Britney Spears
The way my mind was blown the first time I hear “You are now now rockin’ with/ Will.I.Am and ~britney bitch~” is one of my absolutely TOP favorite memories of 2012.

1. The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
No one should be surprised this tops my list. J.K. is my literary queen and I was excited about this book for MONTHS. It certainly did not disappoint me, despite getting some critically mediocre reviews. Whatever critics; the characters were vibrant, the writing was impeccable, and the story was engaging (albeit heartbreaking). While I was sad just about the entire time, I was intrigued and completely pleased with Rowling’s first non-Potter novel.

2. Inheritance by Christopher Paolinij
I’m aware this is a 2011 release but I finally got around to reading it this past semester and wow just wow. Final books in series really get me. This LENGTHY conclusion to the Inheritance Trilogy about a boy and his dragon was a thrilling conclusion. It’s so hard for me to part ways with characters I’ve read since high school or earlier, and this was no exception. Leaving behind Eragon, Saphira, and the rest. I feel like not enough have read this series, so put it on your 2013 resolutions!

3.The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel- The Enchantress by Michael Scott
This was the year of book series ending for me. This. book. was incredible! I just started the series the summer before last and this final installment was released in July and I absolutely devoured it! The story of Sophie and Josh concluded with twist after twist and heart pounding action that I absolutely could not put down. Again, not enough people have read the Nicholas Flamel series but I am always recommending them. My mom just started and she is already hooked!

4. The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore
This is the second book in the “I Am Number Four” series and IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!! I read it in a 24 hour span, which I rarely do with books. I simply couldn’t put it down. If anyone saw the movie I Am Number Four you were possibly as disappointed as I was, but then maybe you read the book and were super impressed, just as I was. I can’t believe I waited so long to read the second installment because it is nonstop action and mystery and SOME HUGE TWISTS that I am always a fan of. I am itching to go out and buy the third installment immediately. One reason I particularly loved this book was because it is told from two points of view, with two chapters each before switching back to the other and OF COURSE each section ends with a cliffhanger so it’s an endless nonstop cycle of having to continue reading to get to each storyline and find out what happens next! I CANNOT wait to read The Rise of Nine.

5. All the Wrong Questions #1- Who Could That Be At This Hour? by Lemony Snicket
A NEW LEMONY SNICKET BOOK??? That was my reaction on Black Friday when I quickly snatched up this new novel. The writing is super quirky and incredible, in true Lemony Snicket style. There are so many of the RIGHT questions I still don’t have the answer to after reading this first installment that I need to know the answers to. I’m glad I am starting to read these AS they come out so I can have that wonderful anticipation for the next books. If you are a “Series of Unfortunate Events” fan, or if you just like a fast and fun read by a wonderful author, check out this first installment in Snicket’s new series.

Honorable Mention: Me by Ricky Martin
I KNOW I know, a celebrity memoir about a male pop singer who came out of the closet? Typical! That was my initial thought when I checked this book out of the library. I honestly just checked it out to get a good laugh like I did in Lance Bass’s memoir. However, Martin’s is so much more honest and poignant than the former NSYNC singer’s. His goes in depth into his long fought climb to fame, and the ensuing madness that went down when La Vida Loca hit the big time. Along with that, Martin goes into detail about his sexual struggle, coming to terms in a beautiful way with his sexuality. I gained SO MUCH RESPECT for Ricky Martin when I read this book, and love how much he focuses on his spirituality, family, sons, and friends rather than simply what will make him the most money.

Dishonorable Mention: Fifty Shades of Grey
I literally cannot finish this book. I am trying STILL.
i love halloween parties and lawdy mercy knows i was drunkface.
but like when did the party end?
i had some proud moments:
1. cutie who is moving to disney to work was luvving me and i was luvving him and i’m like HELLO HANG OUT WITH ME THEN LOVE ME WHEN I’M AT DISNEY TO. Before he left he was like “wait guys wait i have to take a picture with peter pan!” and it was VERY CUTE AND I’M LIKE WHO ARE YOU???
2. I called Carly grandma because I guess I thought she was going to bed too early? Idk. It was probably very late. But I think i yelled through the house “Guys shhhh grandma is in bed!” or something of the like.
3. I was making out with Lance on a bed and Mellie got sooooooo mad bc she thought we were going to have the sexxxxx. But like, we weren’t. I tweeted that someone yelled at me, and I assume that was the situation in which that happened.
how did i end up in the same bed at kayleigh AGAIN EVEN THOUGH ALL THE COUCHES WERE OPEN.
how am i at work now at 8 am?
